Pastor Malave's Ministries / Ministerios del Pastor Edwin Malave
Historical Profile of Pastor Malave
Born in the city of Mayaguez P.R. September 17, 1960. The second son
of Pedro and Narda Malave. Was presented to the Lord by the Rev. Felix
Rivera Cardona a few days after being born. Raised in the knowledge of
God, as a child he experienced the power of the Gospel for salvation as
his parents used their home on a hill in Puerto Rico as a place of worship
where many came to know the Lord. In March of 1972 a little before his
12 birthday The Holy Spirit came upon him with power baptizing him with
the gift of speaking in tongues, while praying in the home of new
converts. That experience changed his life forever. During that same
year the Lord spoke clearly to him for the first time and told him that He
had annointed him to preach His word. In 1973 without understanding
God's will but definately under the guidance of the Holy Spirit the whole
family moved to New York City and took residence in Coney Island. Under
the pastorial care of the Rev. Ignacio Sanchez he grew to become a a
preacher and minister of the word of God. The Lord confirmed his calling
repeatedly through men and women of God such as the evangelists Jose
M. Ortiz and Aida de Jesus. A preacher came to his church one night and
asked where is Edwin? He wasn't at the church that night but the Lord
was asking for him. The preacher concluded by saying: "I don't know who
he is but we must pray for that man". In 1979 he married Ms. Mildred
Espinosa who gave him two wonderful sons Edwin Jr. and David. From
1980 to 1991 he served as a Minister for the International Council of
Pentecostal Churches of Jesus Christ, Presided by Rev. Kittim Sylva.
There he developed mainly as a conferencist preaching at youth
conventions and meetings in the tri-state area. He also served as a
Director of Education overseeing the Sunday School programs in New
York City and Philadelphia. He also served as a Bible Educator in three
different Bible institutes, and from 1985 to 1991 he was the voice of the
Council in the spanish Christian radio station "Radio Vision Cristiana
1330 am". In 1991 he separated from the Council and became the
Associate Pastor of The Metropolitan Christian Center, an independent
Church of Pentecostal/Evangelical roots in Coney Island. In 1997 he
became the Pastor of the Metropolitan Christian Center where he
remains answering God's calling. He has a deep commitment to the
community of Coney Island. The congregation enjoys an up to date,
heart felt, preaching and teaching of the Gospel. God moves with power
